Adult volunteers are members of the Docent Association and act as tour guides, give educational talks, and provide information to visitors throughout the zoo. Zoo aids, ranging from 13 to 17 years of age, work in the Kids’ Zoo Petting Barn, the aquarium tide pool and assist in other zoo programs.

C.A.R.E.S. provides high school students the opportunity to tutor students from kindergarten – 8th grade on any subject. Sessions are for two hours on most Saturday mornings at Dublin Scioto High School and, in Hilliard at Alton Darby Elementary School. Tutors are awarded three community service hours for their participation.

The Summer Volunteens program, for youth ages 11 and up, is conducted every June, July and August. Volunteens help with library programs, shelve books and perform other duties as needed.
