Veterans Day 2011

Thank you for Joining us for the Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11 at the Grounds of Remembrance in Dublin Veterans Park.

The Lima Company Memorial is coming to Dublin for Veterans Day this year

The Wesley G. Davids American Legion Post 800 will be exhibiting the Lima Company Memorial, The Eyes of Freedom, in the Performing Arts Center at Dublin Scioto High School, 4000 Hard Road. The memorial will be on display and open to the public from Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Sunday, Nov. 13 during the Veterans Day holiday week. A brief opening ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.

The Eyes of Freedom is a traveling exhibition to honor the fallen of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflict. The display contains eight large freestanding canvases depicting the 23 fallen of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, a Reserve Unit based out of Ohio who were killed in action in 2005. Along with each of the paintings stand ever-living candles and the combat boots of the fallen Marines shown in the display. On the reverse side of the paintings are the names of the fallen, as well as space for letters and remembrances.

Depicted in one of the paintings is LCpl Wesley G. Davids, a graduate of Dublin Scioto High School, and the namesake of the Dublin American Legion post.

Additional information, including schedules and activities, can be found at dublinlegion.org/lima.
