Guidelines for Completing Permit Forms

Please find below the forms required for a variety of permits. Permits do not have an Application Deadline Day but may have other requirements. Amusement License

 

Architectural Appeal Application

This application can be submitted as an appeal to a denied building permit if the denial was a result of the proposed building model not meeting architectural diversity requirements.

 

Block Party/Barricade

A barricade permit allows residents having a block party to request barricades for neighborhood block parties.

 

Certificate of Zoning Plan Approval

Certificate of Zoning Plan Approval (CZPA) allows the City to ensure the required development standards are met before construction begins and is required for:

  • Fences, not related to swimming pool barriers and under six feet in height. 

  • Patios, seating walls and retaining walls

  • Driveway configuration or  material modifications

  • Storage sheds, decks, gazebos, trellis, arbor, pergolas, or other detached structures for residential, less than 200 square feet  

  • Detached structures for commercial, less than 120 square feet  

  • Generators and HVAC units

  • Roof and siding replacement, if applicable

  • Hot tubs

  • Temporary signs

  • Model homes

  • Outdoor sales

  • Outdoor Seasonal Plant Display (Permits must be renewed every year and are valid March 1 - November 1.)

A complete submission is required for review of a CZPA application and includes the information outlined below.

  • One complete application form, signed by the property owner.

  • One copy of a scaled site plan drawn to an engineer's scale (i.e. - 1" = 20'), showing and labeling all:

    • Property lines, building lines, easements, no build/disturb zones, or tree preservation area, etc.

    • Existing structures on the site.

    • Proposed work, dimensioned and labeled. (All distances from the proposed work to all property lines shown and labeled.) 

The approximate review time for a Certificate of Zoning Plan Approval is one week. The applicant will be notified by telephone upon completion of the review.  The residential fee is $60.00, to be paid by either cash or check at the time the approved CZPA is picked up.  Upon completion of construction, a final inspection is required and can be scheduled by calling 410-4673.

Fence

Applications for a Certificate of Zoning Plan Approval (CZPA) are required for commercial and residential fences not related to the construction of a swimming pool, and under six feet in height. (See CZPA for submission requirements.)

 

Garage Sale

A garage sale permit allows the sale of goods in residential-zoned districts for a set time period not to exceed three days. Guidelines.

 

Home Occupation

A home occupation permit allows a home-based business in a residential-zoned area within set parameters.

 

Peddler/Solicitor

A peddler/solicitor permit is needed to solicit funds or sale items door-to-door in residential districts.

 

Charitable/Group Fund Raising

A charitable/group fund raising permit is required for door-to-door solicitation within the City of Dublin.

 

Model Home Application|Requirement Checklist

All residential model homes and sales offices require an approved Certificate of Zoning Plan Approval (CZPA). Requirements for model homes in residential districts need to be addressed with the application submission (see Zoning Code Section 153.074(D)).

 

Right-of-Way Solicitation

A right-of-way solicitation permit allows solicitation by charitable organizations from public right-of-way.

 

Seasonal Business

A seasonal business permit is needed for temporary sale of seasonal items not to exceed 40 days annually.

 

Sign Permit, Permanent

A permanent sign permit is issued for permanent signs.

 

Sign Permit, Temporary | Temporary Sign Codes

A temporary sign permit is issued for signs temporary in nature not to exceed one year. Such signs include temporary development signs, commercial for sale or lease, grand opening banners, and special event signage.

 

Swimming Pool Barriers

All details related to fences used as barriers to secure a swimming pool (commercial and residential) must be included with the building permit application that is filed for the construction of the swimming pool.  Applicants submitting a swimming pool permit are required to submit for the construction of the State of Ohio required pool barrier simultaneously. Pool contractors can still subcontract the pool barrier  to a fence contractor, but the barrier details must be included with the pool permit application.  This allows the City to ensure the barrier is properly constructed as part of the final occupancy inspection of the swimming pool. A separate Certificate of Zoning Plan Approval is no longer be required.

 

Tree Removal

A tree removal permit is needed prior to removal of any protected tree with the exception of trees on privately owned residential property, which are not located in no-disturb zones.
