City Begins Waterline Condition Assessment Program
Water. It is vital to our daily lives for drinking, cooking, showering and maintaining our homes and businesses. Beginning Monday, March 26, the City will begin a Waterline Condition Assessment Program in the Historic District using a non-invasive, high technology sound sensor system to investigate the condition of the City's waterlines.
Most of the City's water pipe infrastructure will last 80-100 years. But some of our older pipes are almost forty years old and, with age, leaks and breaks increase, causing concern about water quality, system dependability and can be costly to fix.
According to Dublin's Engineering Division, the City has hired Echologics, a leader in the development of acoustic technologies use for detecting and locating leaks in waterlines. Echologics, along with City engineering staff, will investigate the conditions of the waterlines, provide data for analysis of repair needs and locate possible leaks in the system.
The process moves quickly and should be completed in the Historic District on Bridge and High Streets by April 6. There may be some brief lane closures, but no road closures.
The water main under the Scioto River between Summit View Road and Carrigan Ridge Court in the Amberleigh neighborhood will also be assessed. This work will also be completed by April 6.
